Mission

The Boston Home's mission is to enable residents and community members who have advanced multiple sclerosis and other neurological disorders to live as independently as possible through exceptional clinical care, compassion, and innovative programs.

Services Provided

The Boston Home is a residence for 96 individuals and serves outpatients and families through programmatic support.

The Boston Home seeks to reduce barriers for people with disabilities due to advanced MS and other neurological disorders by improving access to the care, support, and services needed to live independently and fully. Its on-site wellness, fitness and social resources include 365-days of Activities, B. Fit! day program, Cyber Cafe, Rehabilitation Suite, Watercolor Program, and Wheelchair Enhancement Center.

B. Fit! is a program offered four days a week through the support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and other philanthropic partners to adults living at home with MS and other progressive neurological disorders. B. Fit! promotes empowerment and independence by offering participants a supportive, social wellness experience. B. Fit! members have access to adaptive technology, the Rehabilitation Suite, Cyber Cafe, and Wheelchair Enhancement Center.

The Boston Home’s state-of-the-art Wheelchair Enhancement Center provides cost-effective solutions in a timely manner to wheelchair users that live at The Boston Home and in the community. The Wheelchair Enhancement Center fills a necessary gap between what insurance and warranties will cover and the needs of wheelchair users. The Boston Home's Adaptive Technologists provide residents, outpatients customizations, chair repairs, and adaptions to increase comfort and independence.

The Boston Home's resident artists recently launched the Resident Art Galley online. Residents create beautiful watercolor paintings by using special brushes and tools designed by The Boston Home's own adaptive technologists. All proceeds from artwork sold goes directly to the individual artist.

Awards

Recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as an exemplary care provider and designated as a “Center for the Promotion of Excellence in Long-term Care,” The Boston Home is committed to making life rich and full of meaningful options. One hundred percent of residents use a wheelchair or power chair for ambulation, and have full access to campus grounds and the world beyond using adaptive technology.
