We Took the United Spinal Association ADA Corporate Challenge. Will You?

Published September 23, 2020

In recognition of the advancements made in the 30 years since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as how much more work there is to do, United Spinal Association is inviting companies to take part in their ADA Corporate Challenge. Accessibility.com completed our submission today, and we encourage others to participate and take time to challenge their company's commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

The Rollon30! Corporate Challenge asks companies to consider six critical questions:

  • Is my workplace accessible?
  • Do my coworkers and I need disability etiquette training?
  • Is my company actively recruiting people with disabilities?
  • Does my company have a disability focused Employee Resource Group?
  • Are my company's technology, products and services accessible to employees and customers with disabilities?
  • How can I expand my knowledge about living with spinal cord injuries & disorders?

Each question is supplemented with clarifying information and valuable resources for improving accessibility and inclusion.

Some of the key resources to check out include:

The mission of United Spinal Association is to "[enhance] the quality of life of all people living with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), including veterans, and provide support and information to loved ones, care providers and professionals."

Spinal cord injury can impact many functions throughout the body and over 17,000 new cases occur each year in the United States. By committing to accessibility in the workplace and in all public offerings, companies can help make sure that injury doesn't lead to exclusion. The ADA Corporate Challenge asks companies to reflect on issues that directly bolster inclusion or perpetuate disability-based discrimination.

Accessibility.com is proud to have participated in the challenge. Will you join us?
