Because The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital believe life is sacred, an inherent gift from a loving Creator, and that all children are of equal worth, they are dedicated to maximizing the potential of every child by providing excellent pediatric medical and rehabilitative services in a compassionate environment consistent with the Christian principles on which it is founded.

Services Provided

Pediatric Complex Medical Care

The interdisciplinary team in our Complex Care Unit provides specialized health care to children (ages newborn to 20 years old) with complex medical needs. These children frequently have chronic severe health conditions and significant functional limitations that require ongoing medical care. Habilitative and/or rehabilitative care and nursing services are provided to patients whose medical condition warrants it. The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital strives to provide this care in the least restrictive environment possible.

Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation

As the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation program in Oklahoma, its top-notch, CARF accredited multidisciplinary team in the rehab unit work with the patient and family to improve cognitive and/or physical function, mobility, healing and independence.

The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital's team of multidisciplinary specialists provides state of the art medical care and treatment plans to children throughout the region. Whether a child is in need of rehabilitation services or has a general illness, The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital has a renowned medical team to service your family’s needs.

Pediatric Clinic

Uniquely staffed by a team comprised of Oklahoma’s finest doctors and nurses, children receive comprehensive treatment ranging from general pediatrics to advanced medical care.

How Many People Served

In 2019, The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital served 230 inpatients from 48 counties in Oklahoma and nine states. It also reported 24, 549 outpatient visits in 2019.

How Donations Are Used

The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital relies on tax-deductible donations to fulfill its mission of helping children with medical and physical disabilities maximize their potential. While reimbursements for services pay for much of our operating costs, The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital depends on donations to purchase the extensive equipment necessary for the therapies and medical care which helps its patients to learn and grow. All capital needs, from therapy swings to capability devices, are funded through contributions. Financial and in-kind donations also help provide items such as patient’s clothing and school supplies.

Project Spotlight

The Activities of Daily Living (ADL) building at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital is currently under construction, with an estimated completion timeline in the fourth quarter of 2020.

This facility will provide an opportunity for patients and families with differing abilities, whether from birth or newly acquired, to explore, experiment and practice many activities in a safe and realistic environment.

Plans for the ADL building include areas that offer realistic life experiences such as house, car, store, café and a town square. These experiences will build confidence and independence and can have a significant impact on quality of life.

The planned pool will offer a place for aquatic therapy, along with relaxation, socialization, and fun! The sport court will provide space for open play, adaptive sports, trials of new mobility options and special events. Further enrichment activities will take place in the art studio, dance studio, and recording studio. These facilities will serve as great teaching tools for students and new experiences for volunteers.

Community spaces will allow families to relax between activities and build community with families and patients with differing abilities.

The realization of this state-of-the-art facility and the ability to offer so many opportunities for expanded therapies and enrichment activities is extremely rewarding.

In addition, creating a space that is designed to build community and foster inclusiveness is truly a gift!

Interesting Facts

The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital was founded by Mattie Mallory in Bethany, Oklahoma in 1898, as a home for orphaned children. In over 120 years in Bethany, it has grown into the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma, serving patients from across the country.
