The Arc provides direct support and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) that enable people to lead full rich lives in the community. The Arc of North Carolina’s services are accredited by The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL).

The Arc is the most established advocacy organization for people with I/DD and their families in the United States, with over 600 chapters nationwide.
People who utilize The Arc for service-related needs or for individual or systems advocacy encompass all ages, all I/DD diagnoses, and include dually-diagnosed individuals who would also have either a substance use disorder or a mental health diagnosis.
