Project Spotlight

Imagine!’s SmartHomes incorporate a variety of cutting edge technologies designed to enhance the quality of life for residents, augment the effectiveness of staff as caregivers, and provide cost and energy savings for Imagine!.

In addition, the SmartHomes are serving as living laboratories to design and test technologies that may then be moved out to individual or family homes, so that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities may remain in more independent and natural settings versus more costly and segregated settings.

As the first such homes in the nation, Imagine!’s SmartHomes offer a model for the future of care for people with cognitive disabilities and other related conditions.

Interesting Fact

Imagine! was established in 1963 by a group of parents determined to see that their children with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to participate in their community.

Imagine! continues to use that original goal as the basis for its mission. Imagine! believes in the potential of all. It believes that people with developmental disabilities have much to offer, and providing the tools and supports that allow them to show what they have to offer benefits all.
