170 federal disability-access cases were filed across 15 states, and the pattern is consistent: a small group of repeat plaintiffs, one law firm, and an online shop that could not be used.

  • This is repeat litigation. 89% of the complaints we read were brought by someone who has sued over a website before. One of them, Nelson Fernandez, accounts for 112 earlier cases in our archive.

  • One firm dominates. Equal Access Law Group PLLC filed 64% of them.

  • The claim barely varies. Every complaint cited the ADA and asked a court to order the site fixed, and 80% sought a nationwide class.

  • WCAG 2.2 is the yardstick. 67% of the complaints measured the site against WCAG 2.2, more than every other version put together.

  • Being sued once is not the end of it. 8 of this month’s defendants, or the websites they run, are already in our archive of 12,983 cases.

The counts cover the whole month. All 170 federal filings, across 15 states.

The percentages come from the complaints. We obtained 66 of the month's complaints and gave each one an in-depth review. Every share on this page describes that set of documents.

A complaint can allege several barriers and ask for several kinds of relief, so those shares add to more than 100%.
