As a totally blind person, Michael Curran focuses on software development in the area of accessibility, and also is very passionate about helping the blindness community in several ways. Michael continues to play a leading role in the NVDA screen Reader, both as a core developer, and as an executive director of NV Access Limited, an Australian-based charity he and others set up to promote and develop the Screen Reader.

Through Michael's work with NVDA and NV Access, he has gained extensive experience in the field of accessibility, including a vast knowledge of key accessibility standards, software APIs, and best practices. He has fostered relationships with companies such as Mozilla, Microsoft, and Google, and has contributed to the accessibility of their respective products.

#NameYourPlus

AccessibilityPlus reinforces the concept that accessibility is not the destination: it's the starting point. It's the baseline.

Take part in the #NameYourPlus campaign to tell businesses and the world what is important to you — tell them what you want.

Here's how it works

  1. Take a photo of yourself sharing what is important to you when it comes to a more accessible world.
  2. Use the #NameYourPlus hashtag on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn to contribute your unique voice to the conversation.
  3. Help to change the world.

We will compile all of your "plusses" and we will share them on our social media channels and during the virtual conference. This is your opportunity to contribute to change.
