Mission

The National Disability Mentoring Coalition (NDMC) aims to raise awareness about the importance and impact of mentoring in the lives of people with disabilities and to increase the number and quality of disability mentoring programs around the country.

Services Provided

  • Awareness – Spotlighting the critical role of mentoring as a disability inclusion strategy that promotes successful academic, employment and independent living outcomes;
  • Connections – Facilitating communication among stakeholders and sharing information about “what works” in disability mentoring;
  • Resources – Providing training, technical assistance, and a referral network to grow the number of mentors and strengthen the impact of mentoring experiences;
  • Inclusion – Facilitating mentoring opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds and abilities in all settings; and
  • Recognition – Honoring excellence in mentoring through the Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame.

How Many People Reached

NDMC reaches 60 members and 10 individuals per year, but its numbers are exponential as all serve people with disabilities within its communities.

How Donations Are Used

  • Donation supports NDMC operations and programming.
  • Dinah F.B. Cohen Fellowship Program: Donation directly supports the Fellow Program established to honor the life and legacy of Dinah F.B. Cohen, a long-time disability rights leader and former NDMC Member.
  • Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame: Donations directly supports the annual operations and activities of the Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame. Learn more about Susa’s life and legacy by visiting the Hall of Fame’s Homepage.

Project Spotlight

The Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame was established to honor those who are making a significant difference in the lives of youth and adults with disabilities through mentoring and to raise awareness about the importance of mentoring for individuals with disabilities.

Interesting Fact

Actress, writer, comedian, and disability advocate Maysoon Zayid was inducted into the NDMC’s 2019 Mentoring Hall of Fame.
