Mission

Delta’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals and families through outstanding community-based supports and mutually rewarding relationships. Since 1977, Delta has been empowering individuals to live fulfilling lives through a wide-range of community-based services. From its foster care and adoption services to support services for adults with developmental disabilities, Delta helps people grow and thrive through all stages of life.

Services Provided

Support Coordination

Delta provides Support Coordination to help New Jersey participants navigate the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) system of service providers and community resources. Support Coordination offers consumers a more individualized approach to selecting services that best fit their needs. Features of this approach include:

  • Smaller caseloads, ensuring attention to individual needs
  • Accommodating schedules by meeting at a preferred location (home, cafe, library, DELTA office)
  • Developing the New Jersey Individualized Service Plan
  • Connecting individuals with resources and supports in the community
  • Monitoring the quality of services using innovative management tools including Evolv and Balanced Scorecard
  • Maintaining constant communication with individuals, the entire support team, and service providers
  • Managing funding sources and budgets to begin or continue services

Supported Employment

Provides employment assistance to individuals that want to find and/or keep competitive employment in their community.

When individuals have meaningful work, they develop pride, self-respect, and a sense of belonging to their community. Supported Employment satisfies needs on two fronts — for the individual seeking employment and for the employer in need of dependable workers.

Delta is an employment vendor in New Jersey (DVR, DDD, CBVI) and Pennsylvania (OVR, ODP). Our services currently support more than 100 people in both states who have been employed by movie theaters, restaurants, retail and wholesale stores, and more. In addition to job placement services, Delta offers ongoing job coaching to teach and familiarize the employee with his or her routine and work culture. This ensures that both employers and employees have a satisfying employment experience.

5-Star Support System

Delta Community Supports believes that anyone who wants to live or work in their community should have the opportunity to do so. Guided by this philosophy, the organization has created an array of support services to help people with disabilities live the lives that they choose, work where they want to work, and in the communities where they want to live. Delta takes great care to provide person-centered planning for all services and encourages individual choice to drive the configuration of services for each consumer.

Services can be offered in combination to provide comprehensive solutions to people in communities Delta serves. Core Services include:

  • Community Living
  • Support Coordination
  • Family Supports
  • Respite Services
  • The Community Center
  • Supported Living

Advocacy

Delta is a member, contributor and supporter of many advocacy groups including Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability (PAR) and American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR).

How Donations Are Used

Donations and support helps keep many of Delta's programs and services up and running. Depending on a donor’s designation, donations may go directly to supporting a specific Delta program that can open doors to someone’s first home or first job, community activities, and family supports. During 2020, many charitable gifts were dedicated to purchasing Personal Protective Equipment to ensure that our staff and consumers stayed healthy during the COVID19 pandemic.

Project Spotlight

Delta is kicking off its year end fundraising campaign: Sharing Compassion, Transforming Lives. This effort is critical since, like many other agencies, Delta has put forth extraordinary efforts to protect the health and safety of its staff and the many individuals served by our programs.

In 2020, Delta also launched an onsite college partnership program with Harcum College to offer its staff members the opportunity to earn a college degree at their place of employment.

The Delta Community Center, which was closed during the pandemic, has also reconfigured its services to be able to provide in-home day activities to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This service innovation keeps consumers continuously engaged with their community and offers families a form of in-home respite.
