Magnifier
Simply put
A magnifier assists those with low vision or who are visually impaired to make their screen or sections of their screens bigger to see words and images better. Smartphones often include magnifier apps, or apps can be downloaded from a phones app store, so that the camera functionality can be used to enlarge a screen or paper to see words and images more clearly.
Why it matters
According to Guinness World Records, the first magnifying glass was invented by Roger Bacon. The first mention of it was around 1268.
Microsoft Windows 95 included an onscreen magnifier as a sample for part of its Active Accessibility SDK /RDK and was made part of the standard operating system in Windows 98.
